Restaurante Lilu

For his new restaurant, chef André Mifano chose a small 1931 house on Rua Francisco Leitão, in Pinheiros. He asked for a simple place, open to the street and free of formality, where food and cooking would be at the centre, and where each dish is brought to the table by the person who prepared it.
Within just 83 m² and a plot 4.6 m wide by 18 m deep, three metal boxes organise bar, kitchen and toilets along the length of the house, with the open kitchen at its heart. The old parking space became a small square connected to the sidewalk, which also works as a waiting area.
Front and rear façades keep the familiar profile of the original roof, while the walls gave way to metal frames with different glass, patterns and openings, reflecting the freshness and irreverence of the place.
