Orit Campinas
Founded in 1958 as a small jewellery and watch repair shop in Brás, São Paulo, Orit is today one of the leading names in buying, selling and trading luxury jewellery and watches in Brazil.
Its new store in Campinas recovers, through architecture, the memory of that origin.
The project draws on an eclectic mix of references, from street markets such as the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul to the futuristic atmosphere of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (1982).
The ambient light comes from a single source: a sun that floods the store, creating the feeling of a natural setting inside the shopping mall. This light is both scenographic and technical. It counterbalances the strong lighting needed to make the windows shine, and brings intimacy and privacy to a small space, entirely open to the mall's circulation.
