Casa Alecrim
On the outskirts of Brasília, between the modernist city and the open landscape, the owners of Alecrim have spent more than twenty years planting trees and a lavender field that now supplies their own line of organic products. The house, a renovation of an existing building, was designed to welcome guests into this slow way of living.
The project is reduced to the essential. White walls, a timber roof and simple materials let light, the garden and the lavender take the lead. Large windows and small private patios bring nature inside and offer intimate places for rest and contemplation, with as few distractions as possible.
The design embraces the spirit of wabi-sabi: the acceptance of imperfection and of the patina of time. Nothing is made to look old, but everything is ready to age well. Even the coffee table was made with wood from trees on the site.
A house that promises to get better with time.
