Apartamento Cobogó

This apartment renovation takes its name from the cobogó, the perforated block created in Brazil in the early twentieth century and made popular by modernist architects such as Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer. First made in cement, the cobogó was later produced in clay, ceramic and glass.
The project explores this ceramic element in all its possibilities: function, colour, pattern and the play of light it creates. Used as partitions and wall cladding, the cobogó also becomes part of the furniture designed specifically for the apartment.
Cement, rebar and plywood complete a palette of simple, honest materials.
